This weekend went by quickly as usual. We had a busy one planned, and we loved every minute! On Saturday, my mom and dad came over for lunch and to play with Samantha for the afternoon. My Mom's birthday is tomorrow (3/2), so we had a lunch celebration! Tobacco Road Sports Cafe in downtown Raleigh was our destination...yummy food, and enough TV and people stimulation to keep our little one occupied! We spent the rest of the afternoon together, playing with Samantha and hearing her giggle. I enjoy watching my parents with Samantha....my mom is wonderful with her, and always makes her laugh. She lights up Samantha's face as soon as she walks in. So delightful to see.
Mom, I hope you have a fabulous birthday, and hope you have a wonderful year full of Samantha and Oma time :-) We love you very much...and are thankful for all that you do for us, even though we do not say this nearly enough. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
My parents were sweet enough to stay during the evening as well, while Phil and I went to dinner (& Target) and to see "Shutter Island" -- good movie, by the way. It was a great date for us...we used a gift card to Longhorn (thanks Randy and Ruthie!!), and then a gift card for the movies (thanks mom and dad). We love having cheap date nights :-) Helps with the day care costs...ha!
During the afternoon, Samantha had a great time playing with my parent's dog, Tia. She loves this dog and has the best laugh and giggles when trying to get Tia's attention. I've added a photo above of her smiling. She's so much fun.
Let's see..Samantha's milestones or things we have noticed recently....
- She can go from standing to sitting easily
- She likes to feed herself (regular food), and can only tolerate us feeding her with a spoon for about 5 minutes!
- Her favorite foods include: graham crackers, cheese, Ritz crackers, yogurt, puffs, chicken, bread, cheese grits, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, apples
- She can walk if we are holding her hands
- She can balance for a little bit while standing unsupported
- Her favorite new toy is the Fisher-Price "bike" (she likes to ride on it while we push her around). It's really a toy that she can push around once she starts walking. She will go up to it and put her hands on it (she wants to get on), then rock back-and-forth and start "talking" once she's on (this means "hurry up mommy and daddy and push me around"). Oh, and I can't forget her vibrating teether....sounds weird, but she loves it and it's super entertaining for us!
- We are teaching her to say dog, so that she knows what Joey and Tyler are. We say "dog" about 50 times a day in hopes that one day it will just pop out of her mouth :-) We are also still trying to teach her to say mommy, but she just keeps saying da da.
- She can open a cabinet now and has figured out how to pull open drawers. She has emptied my bathroom drawer a few times, and sometimes I'm just too tired to pick it all up!
- She is still sleeping from around 5:30pm until 6-6:15am
- She has four teeth on the top and two on the bottom. First dentist appt is March 17th!
- She is wearing 12-month clothing at 10 months
- She likes to bang on our back patio door windows at the dogs outside, and then scream and laugh at them
- She is one of the happiest and active babies we have ever met. We love her so much!!!
Enjoy your week!!
Happy Birthday Oma :-)
