Well, it seems like a while since I last posted, but not that much time has actually gone by! So much happens in a day around our house now, that I can't keep track! Since I last wrote, Phil's Mom has left to go back home to Texas...she was an immense help to both of us...even keeping Sam for two nights, so we could sleep (thank you Jo D!!!!). We also learned from the "baby whisperer" (aka Phil's Mom) how to do things differently to get her to sleep, stop crying and bathing. So much to learn :)
Speaking of baths...Sam's cord fell off last week (can't remember if I wrote that in my last post), so we were able to give her a bath last week for the first time (not just a sponge bath). Attached is a photo of the big event...ha! She liked being in the water, but did not like coming out to be dried off...we have to get better about making drying off a tad more quicker!
A few more updates....Sam can now focus on us and objects...it's so fascinating to watch her follow things around or respond to sounds by trying to find what is making the noise. We also are starting to see her start to smile on her own (maybe half smiles right now)....she does this sometimes when we kiss her or when she is in her favorite play mat (photo attached). She loves to see objects moving and swaying, but yet she doesn't like to actually be swinging in her swing! Crazy. It really is so awesome to see her develop each week...there is always something new happening. She is also able to go back to sleep more quickly over night when she wakes up for a feeding/diaper change. Hence WE are getting more sleep during the night as well, since we don't stay up for an hour trying to get her back to sleep. She's able to fall back asleep in her pack and play after a bottle. Now during the day, this isn't so at all, but at least at night! She's averaging about three hours of sleep before waking during the night.
We are also finding out that her sleep habits might be more like Mommy's. She doesn't like to nap even though she needs to, she stays awake from about 5:30AM until Noon (total morning person!!), and passes out in the afternoon and evening. I think she doesn't like to nap because she misses out on everything (again, a me habit). She also loves to be held...we are getting a workout bicep wise, since she's rather heavy already (10lbs 1oz - as of 3 week dr appt). She likes to be against your chest, so she can look over your back....always looking around....she's very alert.
Phil once again has been a fabulous hubby and daddy. He does a lot of work around the house (even though he's gone back to work), and with Sam. He holds her a lot when she gets fussy...I think she likes his chest because it's flat and she likes to pull is chest hair :-) I'm definitely the luckiest wife and mom ever to have both he and Sam.
Also, we've taken a few new videos...so be sure to check out the following link: http://vimeo.com/4358982 - The new ones are closest to the top.
Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Thanks to the Concini's, we had a nice Saturday night BBQ with friends...and brought Sam along!
