This past week, Samantha turned 3 weeks old! Cant' believe how time is flying!!! At her doctor's appt. last week, she weight 10 lbs, 1 oz...so she's gaining weight as she should. We did find out that she has thrush in her mouth, which was why she cried so much when we fed her...apparently thrush is painful, so sucking on anything made her cry. In addition to that, she had a major diaper rash caused from the yeast (thrush)...so that caused other issues as you can imagine. We are on constant diaper watch now, as we have to change diapers immediately if needed.
We have OTC meds for her diaper rash, and a prescription anti-fungal drop for her mouth. She is getting better each day, so we are very happy about that. Much less crying now (we were beginning to think she had colic!!). OK, that is probably TMI for a lot of people :)
She is sleeping a tad better during the day, but at night, she is up about every 2.5- 3 hours. I think I'm adjusting to that, not sure about Phil! For part of this week, Phil's mom is in town, so she is getting some quality Samantha time...it's a nice break to have some help feeding, changing, and holding her....I may get in a Target trip by myself :-) Thanks Jo D for all of your help! She also made a gorgeous quilt for Samantha. Phil and I picked out the material in December, and then she put everything together. I've attached a photo of Sam hanging out on the quilt!
Samantha has also been out and about some....She's been to dinner with us a few times...just last night, we went to a place called "The Pit" in downtown Raleigh (with my parents and Phil's mom)...it has great BBQ. It's so great to be able to take her places, and no crying episodes just yet (knock on wood!)
Oh, another exciting thing is that her umbilical cord finally fell off last night. She has the cutest belly button...and now we can put her in onsies!! Oh how the little things excite us now...ha!
Enjoy your day!
